"The best natural deodorant out there

I’m very happy with this natural, minimal ingredient deodorant. A lot of natural deodorants use coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax (!), etc., which leave a residue on my tops. I don’t know why those ingredients are used but they’re not in MoM, which simply works!"

Why we left aluminum out

Aluminum is what researchers call a metalloestrogen, a metal capable of mimicking estrogen activity in the body.

A 2024 review in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences surveyed two decades of research and concluded the evidence is significant enough to warrant precaution, particularly given how often these products are applied (daily, often to skin freshly nicked from shaving).

A 2018 study in the Journal of Molecular Biochemistry found that aluminum chlorohydrate, the most common antiperspirant active, measurably altered estrogen receptor activity in human breast cells.

A 2023 systematic review in the Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology put it simply: under the precautionary principle, it's better to avoid antiperspirants that contain aluminum. Aluminum-free deodorants are not implicated.
